Scripting


If you are likely to have to repeat a relatively long series of steps - such as running a series of tables, charting them and exporting them to MS PowerPoint - U-Tab allows you to automate this process by defining each process as a script, and storing it to be run again.
Automating a series of steps by recording a script
Select Script|Record…to display a Record Script dialogue box which will asking you to select a name for your new script.
  • Enter a name, and click OK to start recording.
  • Select the tables and options that you wish to record
  • Select Script|Recording to finish the recording.
    The script will now be saved under the name you have chosen.
    Re-running an existing script
  • Select Script|Existing|Play
  • Select the script to wish to play.
    Amending an existing script
  • Select Script|Existing|Edit
  • Select the script to wish to amend..
    A Script editing dialogue box will now appear, showing each line of the script.
    To delete a line of the script:
  • Right click on the line. A confirmation dialogue box will appear. 
  • Click OK to confirm the change, or Cancel to cancel it.  
    The tick on the left hand side of the line will now grey our, indicating that the line has been deleted from the script.  
    To restore a deleted line of the script:
  • Right click on the line. A confirmation dialogue box will now appear. 
  • Click on OK to restore the line, or Cancel to leave it deleted. 
     
    To make any changes permanent, click on Done in the Script editing dialogue box, and the changes will be permanently saved.
